-----StorY-----

"Drooooooppp!" You commander’s scream instantly wakes you up from a beautiful dream of you and Antoinette spending a day in the beach. Cursing under your breath, you realize that you’re in no beach but under the sun one training day here in Ateneo. How pathetic, you think—the whole week you have been loaded with quizzes and projects that you barely had the time to sleep, or even to eat. Oh yeah, don’t forget that pathetic project in CS that you’re required to submit the following day. You think of how wasted you and your group mates have become, working tediously the whole week and cutting classes just to finish the program. As you painfully do the last 100 pushups Commander Marjvosa ordered you to do, you are once again at the beach, relishing the moment as you slowly cup Antoinette’s face close to yours. You kiss her gently, which sends sparks of electricity into your whole body. BRATATATATAT!!!! The sound of a machinegun being fired sends you quickly to your feet, and you quickly jump for cover to a near tree. As you take a peek into the confusion, you see your comrades’ bodies lie strewn on the floor—their bodies riddled with bullets to the extreme evil of hell. Damn! What is happening here? As you try to concentrate and think of your next move, a kick on your face quickly sends you reeling to the ground. As you gasp for breath, an M1 Garrand lands on the ground beside you and you see Commander Marjvosa wink at you as she brings your green-clad attacker down with one shot in the head. Nice shot, you think. "Now is the chance for you to show the world what you’ve got, boy," she tells you, smiling. You search the green-clad corpse for any note of identity but there is none. The only thing you notice is that the corpse is wearing an all-green battle gear. An image of Antoinette being held captive by one of those green guys flashes into your mind, and you quickly make a decision—you must not let anything happen to her! Determined to destroy the mastermind behind this sudden attack, you run through the battlefield, bringing only an M1 Garrand and a picture of Antoinette along with you. As you charge through the battlefield, you notice that all invaders are wearing green and in an instant, you come into a realization that they could only come from one organization, an organization which makes you more determined to finish this war--DLSU.

-----InstallatioN-----

  1. From the diskettes:
  2. You can play pathos directly from disk 1 by typing the command at the DOS prompt:

    appletviewer Pathos.html

This will run the simple version of Pathos. Optionally, if you would like to hear high-quality, progressive soundtrack then install the game into your hard drive by unzipping each of .ZIP files in disks 2-4 into the root directory of your local drive (using WinZip or any other unzipping utility). Then change your directory to \PATHOS and type the following at the DOS prompt:

    appletviewer Pathos.html

(This assumes that you have the Java Developers’ Kit installed.) If you are using MS Internet Explorer or Netscape Communicator/Navigator, simply type in the path to the Pathos.html file (i.e. C:\Pathos\Pathos.html if installed on the C drive)

  3. From the Internet:

Point your web browser to http://members.xoom.com/pathos. This address contains the latest, patched version of Pathos, in case bugs are found in the original distribution disks.  Also, progressive music is not available i the internet version.

-----BonuseS-----

Iced Tealeft over from previous ROTC training days, these cups will not boost your health so much... but, well, you’ve got no choice...

Medikitfortunately, some of the Atenean medics have left some medikits lying around the campus, and will boost your health completely.

Machinegun used by the Honor Guard, this is a gun upgrade for your pathetic rifle; the M-16 Armalite machinegun automatically reloads after each shot. Just take note that since it was previously used by La Sallites, it is of inferior quality and will be unusable once you are shot.

-----EnemieS-----

La Sallite gunners they are too dumb that they do not even know how to shoot their guns, so just watch out for them trying to bump into you ;-)

La Sallite elite gunnersat least they know how to use a rifle (but they only shoot once due to their guns being stuck at mid-cock)

La Sallite machinegunners they are the not-so-pathetic type since they shoot four bullets at a time (then again, machineguns are automatic right?) But they only stay at one spot because they think their guns are heavier than their brains; well, that’s not entirely false...

Armored La Sallites call them like canned meat if you want; they are a bit harder to kill, but still got the same brains inside their tin can costumes. (Some of them are quite dumb, actually—-they throw their bullets instead of using a gun =)

A surprising end game Boss who (or what?) do you think you’ll find in the Unix lab? No, the progenitor of this stinking mess is NOT a La Sallite, but WORSE!... you’ll find out soon enough!
